How can I obtain a new prepaid connection?
By submitting the following documents at any of our Mobitel branch/Dealer/Sub dealer locations, you can obtain a pre-paid connection.

*Duly filled application form
*Copy of NIC/ DL or valid PPT copy to be attached.
*Passport size Photograph or  consent to a photograph to be taken at the location *for registration purposes.
*Mobitel will also charge a fee of Rs 125/- for the connection.
From where can I obtain a new prepaid connection?
You can obtain a new connection at any of the following locations
  • Big M branches
  • Mobitel Authorized dealers
  • SLT Teleshops
  • SLT Regional Telecom offices
  • Singer Mega
  • Sub dealers

What is the maximum number of prepaid connections I can obtain?
A single subscriber can obtain a maximum of 5 active connections only.
How can an expatriate /non Sri Lankan obtain a prepaid connection?
If you have a valid passport along with a copy of your visa, you can obtain a prepaid connection
How can I obtain a prepaid connection with a premium number?
This will be based on the availability of numbers. And an additional fee  will apply for a premium number.pls call 1717 for charges.
 

SIM Replacement / Disconnection

How can I replace my SIM in the event it is Lost or damaged?
By submitting the following documents you can request for a new SIM from any of our outlets.
A letter or an alteration form
NIC /DL copy

The following charges will apply for the replacement SIM.

*Prepaid normal SIM Rs.100/-
*Micro SIM Rs.200/-
*128k SIM Rs.500/-

If you’re unable to visit us in person, you can send in a letter with relevant information, to obtain a new SIM.
Can I obtain the same number in the event of a SIM replacement?
Yes, you can.
How can I disconnect my prepaid connection temporarily?
Please call us on 1717 or visit our nearest branch if you have lost your SIM/prepaid phone

Can I change my prepaid number while continuing with the same tariff & services?
Number changes are not encouraged on prepaid
How can I change my prepaid connection to a postpaid connection?
You can change your connection from a prepaid to post paid with the same number.  We will charge Rs100/- for the new SIM. You will be required to fill a post-paid application form and also the billing proof and deposits applicable for post-paid connections would apply.

At the point of migrating if the customer wishes to purchase a jumbo SIM, the cost involved would be Rs500/-.
How can I obtain a detailed bill for my prepaid number?
You are required to visit us personally along with the NIC.
What are the conditions & charges applicable for the detailed bill on prepaid?
Customers can only request for the past 3 months detail bills on a prepaid connection.
  • Outgoing detail bill charges per month-Rs.100/-
  • Incoming detail bill charges  per month -Rs.150/-
 

Any 8 & MBF features

What is the “Any 8” feature?

This enables customers to nominate any eight most frequently called local numbers irrespective of whether it’s a land or a mobile number, and call at low rates.

Note:  Available only for MBF pckg

What are the charges applicable for activating the feature?
Activation fee for the Any-8 feature is Rs10/=& there will be a charge of Rs 3/= per day. (This is the standard daily fee even if there are less than eight numbers activated)
How can I nominate /change/terminate the Any 8 numbers on my prepaid connection?
Type the following SMS codes & send it to 7678

  • To activate type “any8act#number#number………………….”.
  • To change numbers type , “any8chg#existing number(space)new number”
  • To terminate the feature  type “Noa8”
  • To add numbers  type,“any8add#number#number”

How often can I change the Any 8 numbers on my prepaid connection?
Customer will get 8 free attempts to change the Any-8 numbers and additional changes will cost Rs10/= per number change. Number can be changed once in 30 days.
(Changes done in less than 30 days will be considered as additional changes)

What is the “MBF” feature?

An MBF number enables a customer to nominate two frequently called Mobitel numbers for which he will be charged on low rates.

You are given a free attempt to change your nominated numbers every month. Additional changes will cost Rs50/= per change. (This amount will be deducted from your account at the time of the change. Taxes will apply)

Prepaid " Loan" & " Share"

What is "Loan"?
Prepaid Loan is an option where prepaid customers can request for a loan of Rs.30 from Mobitel when  they run out of credit on their prepaid account. To enjoy this facility customers have to complete 3 months in the network.

How can I obtain a prepaid Loan?
A  Loan can be requested by dialing*247# and will be valid for a period of 7days.
What are the charges applicable for a prepaid Loan?
Customers will be charged Rs 2 + Taxes for each Loan request & this will be charged once the prepaid account is re charged.
What is "Share"?
Share is another great feature introduced on prepaid service. This unique feature gives you the freedom to share your credit with your friends who are also users of Mobitel Prepaid.
How can I transfer credit to another pre paid connection?
Type   *448*Receiver Number*value# & send to share credit.
What are the maximum & the minimum amounts transferable under the prepaid share feature?
The minimum balance that can be transferred is Rs.10/- and the maximum is   Rs.200/-.
What is the validity period of the credit amount transferred through prepaid share?
All credits that are transferred via this service will expire after 30 days from the    received date.
If the credit is received by a customer who has an existing balance his/her expiry date will be extended by 30 days once the “Sharing Balance” is received. But the maximum period that a balance can be extended will be 365 days
What are the charges applicable for the prepaid share feature?
A service charge of Rs.2/-+taxes (Normal SMS charge) will apply for the SMS
