Can I purchase tickets for someone else?
Yes. Mobitel Customers can reserve tickets for others. Customer should provide the NIC number of the person who is going to collect the ticket.
How to collect the ticket
Customers can produce reference SMS along with the NIC, Driving License or Passport to collect the ticket at any of following locations.

  • At Sri Lanka Cricket, 35, Maitland Place, Colombo 07. ( Before the date of the match)
  • At the stadium  ( On the day of the match)

What is M2Gtalk?
M2GTalk allows Mobitel subscribers to call a GTalk user from their mobile phones by dialing a short code allocated to the GTalk user
How do I register?
Simply send the Gmail address of your friend to 4040. When the Gtalk user accepts the request, mobile user will receive his/her short code. Just dial that number from your Mobitel phone to get connected.
Am I charged for this SMS?
NO. Its Free
Does the Mobile user have to do this for every Google mail address
Yes. In order to call several Gtalk users, mobile user will need to send the Gmail addresses to 4040 and receive the short codes
Can a mobile user add several contact from one SMS?
No. He has to add contacts one by one.
Any registration needs doing by the Google Talk user
Yes. Gtalk user has to add m2gtalk@mobitel.lk as a contact
Does the Gtalk user have to do this for every mobile user
No. it’s a one-time registration
How much do I get charged per min for placing a call to a Gtalk user?
During the trial month, call costs Rs. 1 relevant taxes per min & after a month from launch call costs Rs. 2 + relevant taxes per min

What if the Gtalk user is offline/ busy at the time of placing a call?
Caller will hear a voice prompt saying the Gtalk user if offline
Gtalk user has call waiting option. He could either ignore or reject the secondary call

Rewind TV compatibility?
Android - Rewind TV
If you have installed flash in your device, then the device will be capable of playing RTV. Otherwise device will only be able to play live streams.
But any device with OS version above 4.1 (i.e. Android Jellybean) will again not be able to play RTV.
So, OS versions between Android 2.2 Froyo and Android 3.x.x Honeycomb devices will be able to play RTV if flash is installed in the device.

Can I access the Mobitel TV on any mobile network?
No. it will only work on a Mobitel Connection

How much am I charged per min on 365?

Rs. 8 + TAX per min

How do I know whether my reservation has been entered?
You will receive an acknowledgement SMS confirming the reservation.
Does receiving this SMS totally mean I can fly on the date that I requested?
No. You must make sure the FULL PAYMENT iis made before the expiry date of Air Ticket reservation

What if I do not receive this reservation SMS?
Call Air Ticketing reservation help line (365) & request the Officer to resend the message

What is mInsurance? Validity period?

a. This is an insurance cover which can be obtained by Mobitel prepaid and post-paid customers by sending a SMS.

b.BENEFITS

c. This cover valid only for a month. (To be covers under a particular month the premium for that month has to be paid in the previous month)

Eg: If the customer wish to be covered under this policy for the month of February he/she should pay the February premium during January. If the premium is not deducted he wont be coverd for the month of February. If he/she paid the premium in February he/she will be covered for the month of March.

 

d. Once a customer subscribe to this service the premium will be automatically deducted for the relevant month.

How to subscribe and de-subscribe?
a. To subscribe type “reg” and send it to 220

How to nominate the nominee?
By sending a letter/form/alteration form  with following information
1. Customer’s mobitel number
2. Nominee’s name, contact number and address

How to claim?
In case of a claim customer should submit the relavant document to Mobitel and Mobitel will direct the document to Janashakthi insurance to process.
For further clarifications on the submitted documents the customer has to coordinate with Janashakthi and the relavant contact details will be provided to the customer by Mobitel contact center.

This service allows you to request a call-back SMS from another Mobitel customer.
How do I activate the Call Me Service?
There is no activation required, just use the USSD dialing method to use the service.
How do I use the service?
Just dial the USSD string “#359*Mobitelnumber#” and a SMS will be sent requesting for a call.
How much do I get charged for using the service?
This is a free service; however the user is limited to a maximum of 20 Call Me Service request a week.
Do I always have to be out of credit to use the Call Me Service?
No, you can use the Call Me Service at all times.
Do I need to pre-register to enjoy this service?
No, you can get started right away to enjoy this service.
How do I check the remaining number of requests available?
The remaining number of requests would be displayed on the Call Me Service USSD confirmation message.
On what connection state can the Call Me Service be used?
All Pre-Paid subscribers in the Active state can enjoy the service.
The receiver also has to be an Active user (Connection enabled with incoming SMS)

Can I send call me requests to other networks?
No, this service is exclusively for Mobitel users
 

M-Smart Store

What is M-SmartStore?
M-Apps is a WAP portal where GPRS users can download a variety of applications such as Facebook, Opera Mini, Twitter, Games, etc. based on either a pay per app or subscription method.
How do I access M-SmartStore?
You can access M-Apps by logging into http://wap.mobitel.lk/m-smartstore. Alternatively, you can also go to wap.mobitel.lk and select M-SmartStore.
How much do I get charged for these apps?

What is this Fair Usage Policy applied on the subscription method?
If you are a daily subscriber you will be charged Rs. 4 per day and can download up to 4 applications FREE OF CHARGE (this does not include premium apps) and your subscription is auto renewed.

- If you are a monthly subscriber you will be charged Rs. 99 and be entitled to download up to 150 apps. Once you’ve reached your monthly quota, you will be charged for each additional app downloaded.
What if I do not want to use any of the subscription models?
You can them opt for the ‘Pay Per App’ method, which gives you the flexibility to download any app for the amount specified.
Do all the handsets support these apps?
No. Most of the Java enabled and Symbian phones support apps. When you log into the M-Apps portal through your mobile device, you will ONLY be shown apps that are compatible with your device.
What if my download gets interrupted while downloading an app/game from M-SmartStore?
If your download gets interrupted by a call, you can try downloading the app/game again without getting charged. Alternatively, you can also check your network connectivity and try again.
I downloaded an app but it says “file cannot be played”, what should I do?
This could be an application issue. Please highlight the issue with details of the app downloaded and your device details and email it to us at info@mobitel.lk Upon review, we will send you a link to download another app or the relevant amount will be refunded.
What do I do if I downloaded an app and it fetches data from the network automatically?
Make sure “auto updates” are set to “off” on the downloaded app.
Is there a data charge for downloading apps?
Yes there is and this depends on the size of the app that you are downloading.
