mLearning Projects - Success Stories:
1. University of Colombo
mLearning was initiated in September of 2008 with the collaboration of University of Colombo and Mobitel with both parties having interests in enhancing the higher education systems in Sri Lanka. The University of Colombo inaugurated the initial course in March 2009 with the Faculty of Graduate Studies Executive Diploma in Marketing course. With the success of this course many other faculties have now joined mLearning and are currently delivering their courses over this unique education tool.
2. General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University
General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University has collaborated with Mobitel to conduct Postgraduate programmes via Mobitel mLearning platform.
3. Postgraduate Institute of Management
Mobitel has collaborated with Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) and share their expertise with overseas students through Mobitel’s revolutionary learning platform: mLearning. Students from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain are currently following live lectures and live revision classes conducted by PIM’s best resource personals.
With this initiative Global PIM Students can now receive study material and communicate with lecturers all on the mLearning platform, from any global location just by login in anytime anywhere.
4. Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka
The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka now deployed mLearning to conduct lectures and workshops to professional Engineers and IESL members, islandwide. This pioneer solution potentially provides any training and development provider in Sri Lanka with an opportunity to launch an innovative and unique learning environment without the attendant costs or inconvenience.
5. Mobitel facilitates mLearning, a distance learning solution to educate students in Northern Province
Mobitel facilitates mLearning facility to Ministry of Education, Northern Province to conduct Science, Technology and Mathematics to the students who are studying Ordinary Level and Advanced Level in remote schools. (Selected 100 schools). This is another pioneering solution from Mobitel to Northern Province which helps lot of students in remote areas.
6. College of Surgeons
The College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka is currently using the mLearning platform to conduct lectures and workshops to physicians situated in various corners of the country. This service has proven vital due to the mission critical nature of the work with which hospitals face on a daily a basis.
