Introduction to Mobitel SMS Alert Service
The Mobitel SMS Alert Service is designed to provide customers with real-time updates on a wide range of topics, including global events, job and career opportunities, educational information, business news, and much more. This service empowers users to stay informed and make timely, well-informed decisions. By delivering these alerts directly to the customer’s device, Mobitel ensures the information is both relevant and reliable. The service is particularly invaluable during emergencies, fostering resilience and promoting the development of connected, informed communities.
How to activate and deactivate the service
To activate the preferred service, customers must type REG followed by the relevant service keyword and send it via SMS to the designated short code as outlined below. Further to deactivate the service, customers should type DREG followed by the relevant service keyword and send it via SMS to the same short code as provided below.

All SMS alerts are provided in English language only, Unicode characters (Sinhala/Tamil) will not be used to provide the SMS service. The service will be renewed automatically (until the user deactivates the service) and will be charged on each renewal depending on customers mobile connection type (Prepaid / Postpaid). The user can deactivate the service at any given time by sending a deactivation SMS or notifying the Mobitel customer service team via 1717 hotline.
The above service is activated using the mobile operator’s activation process. The operator will request confirmation before activating the service.
The service will be renewed automatically until the user deactivates it and will be charged upon each renewal.
The user can deactivate the service at any time using the respective deactivation method or by contacting Mobitel customer service via the 1717 hotline.
Any clarifications, concerns, or refund requests will be handled by Mobitel
