What is 1984 short code? 1984 short code is assigned to National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) where Mobitel users can have access to the following features by simply dialing 1984 short code?
  • Caller will be able to send any complains related to substance abuse to NDDCB either by dialing 1984 short code or by sending your complain as a SMS to 1984.
  • Callers can get in contact with a NDDCB call center agent by dialing 1984 short code.
  • By dialing 1984 short code, callers will have access to pre recoded information from NDDCB where callers can get specific information related to substance abuse, NDDCB rehabilitation Centre and etc. which are updated by NDDCB education unit.
  • Callers will also have the facility to contact a professional counselor from NDDCB just by dialing 1984 short code. One session will be limited to 10 minutes. In this option, callers and counselors anonymity is preserved by masking the mobile numbers of both parties with a system generated number.
  • Callers can also activate the daily SMS alert service by NDDCB either by dialing 1984 short code or by simply sending REG to 984 (E.g. – if he/she sends REG S to 984 he/she will be entitle to daily SMS alert service from NDDCB in Singlish.)
  • All of the these features will be available in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
How much will I be charged for the above mentioned services?
All of these services will be available free of charge.
