Data Roaming Barring Facility

  • SLT-Mobitel offers a range of data roaming plans starting USD1 per day in more than 100 countries around the world. Dial #999# or use the selfcare app to choose and activate any prepaid or postpaid roaming plan to fit your needs today!  
  • If you do not wish to use roaming data facility, you can roam by restricting data roaming facility which allows you to use only roaming voice and SMS facility.  
  • The below FAQ lists everything you need to know about roaming data facility!  
  1. What is Data Roaming Barring facility?
    • This facility allows roamers to activate or deactivate data roaming service while they roam.
    • Customers can use local data service even though data roaming is deactivated while in Sri Lanka.
  2. Who is eligible for this facility?
    • All Prepaid and Postpaid customers can use this facility.
  3. How can I Activate Data Roaming Barring Facility?
    • Follow the below steps: Dial #999# -> 2.Roaming services -> 1. Roaming data barring -> 2. Activate

  4. How can I Deactivate Data Roaming Barring Facility?
    • Follow the below steps: Dial #999# -> 2.Roaming services -> 1. Roaming data barring -> 3. Deactivate
    • Via Selfcare App
  5. Where can a customer activate/ deactivate this roaming data barring option?
    • Customer can use this facility while in Sri Lanka or while roaming.
  6. Can I activate any roaming plans while the data roaming facility is blocked?
    • Yes. There will be no restriction to activate data roaming plans with this facility. Data roaming barring will get automatically removed with roaming data plan activation.
  7. When Data Roaming is Deactivated, do I have to turn ON data once I return to Sri Lanka?
    • Customers can use local data service even though data roaming is deactivated while in Sri Lanka.

Roaming Voice Recording

  • The below FAQ lists everything you need to know about Roaming voice recording facility!
  1. What is Roaming voice recording facility?
    • This facility allows roamers to inform any caller that they are on roaming and out of Sri Lanka.
    • By-default the recording will be played for all roamers with no restriction.
  2. Who is eligible for this facility?
    • All Prepaid and Postpaid customers can use this facility.
  3. How can I remove the Roaming voice recording facility?
    • Follow the below steps: Dial #999# -> 2.Roaming services -> 2. Roaming Announcement -> 2. Activate

  4. Where can a customer activate/ deactivate Roaming voice recording facility?
    • Customer can use this facility while in Sri Lanka or while roaming.
