Notice - Digital Services (VAS)

It has come to our notice that various reports and a YouTube video claiming fraudulent activations and charging for Value Added Services are being circulated on Social Media platforms. We would like to clarify that the allegations levelled at Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. are completely baseless and is done with the intent to spread false news. 
As Sri Lanka’s National Mobile Service Provider, Mobitel place utmost importance on customer integrity and has implemented a transparent system to inform the customer about the selection and activation of any value added services. 
Further, the following protocols and procedures have been set in place to strictly monitor and avoid any unintentional activations. 
  • When a customer wants to activate a service, they are required to enter the mobile number
  • After the entry, a One Time Password (OTP) is sent via SMS for verification purposes. 
  • Once the service is activated, an SMS is sent again to the customer confirming the activation of the service(s). 
  • Further we have a 100% refund policy where the entire amount is refunded in case of non-usage of service(s).
By visiting the Mobitel Self Care App, calling the Customer Care hotline or by logging on to the Mobitel Web Page, Customers have the option of deactivating or unsubscribing from any value added services.
